The MacHalo group was formed in October 2014 when a bunch of us were
re-reading the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. We fell in love with that first story arc from books 1-5 all over again (or for the first time) and had a blast fangirling and commenting on the books as we read them. We had fun casting Barrons and these were our top three choices.
When the buddy read ended, we felt the group should go on and have since continued to let our freak flags fly like the lovable bunch of weirdos we are. We have an “official” buddy read each month and start tons of impromptu little ones. We’ve read the Sirantha Jax series by Ann Aguirre, the Warrior Chronicles by K.F. Breene, Agent of Hel by Jacqueline Carey, Alex Craft by Kalayna Price, Blackthorn and Grim by Juliet Marillier, Sabina Kane by Jaye Wells, Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger, Descent by S.M. Reine, Boston Underworld by A. Zavarelli, and Maiden Lane by Elizabeth Hoyt, among many others.
We read everything by Ilona Andrews and Pippa DaCosta, and are currently reading all of M.C.A. Hogarth’s books, the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh, and The Chronicles of St. Mary’s by Jodi Taylor.
We’re a group of 20-30-40-something year olds who like to chat about books, movies, music, wine, and men we’d like to put in our harem.
We usually stick to urban fantasy and sci-fi books, but have recently started reading much more about men in kilts. A man in a kilt is never a bad thing.
We love Chuck Tingle and Fannie Tucker, and if you don’t know who they are, you are missing out. (I suppose that is debatable, but not to us! Ha!)
This is our first official blog for the group. We will post several times a month to discuss pretty much whatever we want, but will mainly focus on books or book-related topics with a splash of everything else here and there. Our intent is to be creative, spontaneous, discuss our interests, review some ARCs (advanced reader copies), and hopefully score an author interview or two if we get super lucky. Enjoy!
