The Third Mrs. Durst by Ann Aguirre

Release date: August 8, 2019. Publisher: Midnight Ink. Rating: ★★★★

So… this is a wild ride, basically, about a woman making a very bad man pay for being a very bad man. It’s revenge porn. But what a satisfying read. I devoured this in two evenings. The story is written simply and immediately engages. We see the main character crawl her way to the top, orchestrating events, to ruin an abusive, corrupted man.

I don’t think it’s something I would read over and over, but it’s one of those books that provides a quick escape and keeps you wrapped up for a couple days. The characters aren’t especially likable, but I definitely rooted for the third Mrs. Durst the whole way.

I especially liked how there was feminism and LGBT rep. I’ve been wary of Ann Aguirre ever since being devastated by her choices in the Sirantha Jax series. This is a dark contemporary romance thriller, and I liked it!

Triggers: rape, child rape, domestic violence, body shaming.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for providing a digital eARC to read and review!
